Ring in Spring with These Weather Science Experiments

Spring is here! Our campus has experienced just about everything New England weather has to offer so far this year, it’s been an amazing science lesson everyday. We found these fun, and educational, weather experiments on campus on Pinterest and just knew we had to share them!

How Clouds Make Rainweather science experiment

What you’ll need:

  • A clear jar
  • Foam shaving cream
  • Water
  • Food coloring

What you do:

  1. Fill the jar with water
  2. Cover the top with a “cloud” of shaving cream
  3. Drop food coloring into the cloud until the color starts “raining” into the water

Tornado in a Bottle weather science experiment

What you’ll need:

  • Round bottle
  • Dish soap
  • Water

What you do:

  1. Fill the bottle with water, almost to the top
  2. Put a few drops of soap in the bottle and then put the lid back on
  3. Shake the bottle in a circular motion
  4. Watch the tornado move!
